70's Ludwig Blue oyster w/ concert toms... should I or shouldn't I? Last viewed: 4 hours ago

24/12/14/16 w/ an additional 16 double-headed FT. Good-to-very good shape. He's asking $500 - but I'm not a fan of concert toms. The BD is double headed.

This is the "bowling ball" finish - which I don't know much about. I personally like it, but is it a desirable finish?

Thanks for any advice.

If I had matching rack toms, it might make sense to keep the double head FT and BD and flip the rest. Otherwise, no.

There can be a lot of varying in the BB finish, even with kits that came together,I saw a pic in the ludwig book where a tom in BB did not even match itself. If the finish on all the drums matches well, and they are 3 ply,and the bottom bearing edges are there and in good shape I think 500.00 is a good deal if you are cool with concert toms, you could easily convert them to double sided also. If you are buying to flip them, not a lot of profit, but if you want a ludwig kit to play, you could do worse IMO.

Thanks for the feedback. Still unsure, though.

Concert tom bottoms are sometimes out-of-round, in case you're thinking of converting them.

Would they even have re-rings on the bottom?
