I glued and clamped the inside. Turns out the indent was just slightly penetrating the wrap and the first ply. I made a steel plate for the outside even though I could get away without it. Im happy with the way it looks too

That`s exactly what I would have done, stronger than ever. Maybe later on you can hit the auto parts store and get some chrome spraypaint and paint the whole thing so it don`t rust and stain the wrap, rust travels !!
Did you make a match for the other side ?
