Lynn I appreciate your help!...I have a new born baby girl at my house. (A month old today).

You're welcome! Sorry I couldn't be more help. Congrats on the baby girl! Mine will be 4 Saturday. I love sleeping the whole night through, but I sure miss when she was just a tiny baby.

That's a tom mount. Period correct as well. Identical to my 66 Slingys which I've owned since new...Yeah, the end on the bass drum is pretty solid, but the end on the tom sometimes slips unless you use pliers on the wing nut. Same with the "push button" floor tom leg mounts. They slip, and the drum gets progressively lower as the nite goes on.

Ahh...I didn't even think of that. I sure didn't know that was on bass drums in the 60s. Thanks for the enlightenment. flowers2

I had that slippage issue with my push button FT. I stretched the springs out and they haven't slipped since.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

Try a stronger spring in the FT lugs... and while you have them apart run a fine file over the contact point of the lever.. give them some more "Bite" on the legs...

Cheers

Thanks, gang for the FT tips. Actually, many years ago, I disassembled the leg mounts and removed the springs and push buttons, then drilled and tapped them and put some screws in them to hold the legs. That method works well also, although in hindsight I wish I'd have left them alone or at least saved the pieces I removed. Oh well. Wonder how many times that's been said by vintage drum owners, lol!
