6.5 x 14 Tommy Wells Solid Shell Cherry Snare in White Pearl, Vintage Trimmings Last viewed: 10 hours ago

This is a brand new snare which I purchased from Tommy Wells three weeks ago on occasion of his retirement blow-out. It's a 6.5 x 14 solid cherry shell with cherry re-enforcement rings. It's outfitted with a vintage S-9X strainer and 2.5mm single flange chrome hoops. (The lighting might make them appear goldish in color but they are, in fact, chrome.) Tommy gave it a vintage round-over, 3/16 outside, 1/2 inside and it comes with an Aquarian coated head. The drum has been tapped a few times, nothing more. Never gigged out, not so much as practiced on. I've got 565 into it and I'd like to get that back. It's a great deal, heavily discounted on account of his retirement. If you've played Tommy's drums you know they are totally comparable to Craviotto in craftsmenship and sound but drastically reduced in price.

I'm selling it for a simple reason:

We both thought that USPS lost the snare in the storm. We put a trace on it and filed a claim. I bought another snare, thinking I was out one, and then, one cold Chicago day. It showed up. As much as I'd love to keep her, I can't have more than one snare right now.

Paypal 'gift' to jacebart@uchicago.edu.

I won't be checking the site so just email me directly at jacebart@uchicago.edu if you're interested in the snare.

I know. It's making me ill to get rid of this one. But I just can't afford two. And what I've found is that, unlike many jazzers, I'm more of a 5.5 guy than a 6.5 guy. But this 6.5 of Tommy's holds its own against any Craviotto or any other solid-shell producer charging almost twice as much.

Anyway, ya, it's a beauty--and a steal.

I know, I know. I might just try to figure out a way to keep it if it doesn't go quick.

550 shipped to your door. That's the absolute lowest I'm going on this one.

I won't be checking the site so just email me directly at jacebart@uchicago.edu if you're interested in the snare.

I've had a few inquiries about trades on this one. Sorry, I've actually settled everything for now and I"m not looking for anything other than the 550 for this beautiful instrument. Email me directly at jacebart@uchicago.edu if you have questions or offers.

Going to Feebay at the end of the week if I have no takers.

I'm taking her down and keeping her if she doesn't sell soon. And keep her is what I'd do if I was in my right mind, which I'm obviously not, given that I'm offering her for sale in the first place.
