65 Ludwig FT - how many plys? Last viewed: 9 hours ago

I'm trying to figure out how many plys this 1965 Ludwig floor tom has.

It looks like four - including the inside ply which looks very thick. I don't want to scratch the paint off to see if the inside cut edge (painted) is more than one ply.

How many plys did these drums have back then....usually?

It's a three ply shell. The unpainted wood you see on the inside of the interior ply of mahogany is the reinforcement ring. My '67s look the same way. Ludwig obviously masked off the bearing edges, including the top edge of the re-ring.
