'62 Ludwig New Yorker kit

Wanted to share another kit with you that recently came together. Been working on this one for a while. My good friend Surface got me started with the bass drum shell and the complete ride tom. Took me some digging and scratching but finally got all the needed parts to complete the bass including period heads.

The bass and ride tom are a Feb 28th 1962 New Yorker kit. These kits are a 12x22 bass drum and a 8x12 ride tom. In '62, they were cataloged with a Supra, or actually a brass Super most likely, which i have shown in one of my pics. The tom has COB hoops and a playon plastic batter head. The bass drum has some fade on top which actually looks kinda neat. I love playing old 3 piece kits, but when a good deal on a matching pre serial badge 16x16 came along on ebay, I couldn't pass it up. It even has some of the same fade as the bass drum. It too has a playon plastic batter head and COB hoops. The bass drum has the early natural maple interior while the toms have resacote interiors.

I like to have matching snares for my kits and was able to get the red sparkle 6.5x14 8 lug Symphonic recently from forum friend Tillerva. It's a Jan 23 1969 model, 3 ply with clear maple interior. Just got it detailed and dialed in yesterday. Looks like new to my eyes. I like the kit setup both ways. It's not perfect, but it sounds great and I dig it. Hope you enjoy the pics. Also shown is a pic of the bass drum shell that started it all!

Thanks guys. It's a cool kit I think. I was really lucky to find that floor tom that meshed well with the kit. Had no intentions of buying one and wasn't looking for one. Isn't that the way it always is?

Ko-You've got a beauty of a red sparkle New Yorker yourself. When i was looking for my pics today, i ran across a saved pic of yours!

Mike I know that feeling when a floor tom finally shows up. If you ever part with them please talk to me first, 1962 is my birth year. I love the kit, you did a nice job putting it together. And good job from the other members that helped get it done also.

Thank you!
