Hey guys,

I have a line on a set of Slingerlands that are stamped 1965.

It's just a kick, snare and 12" tom.

The tom has a bass drum hoop mount.

If I had to guess I would say it's probably one of these.

They are sparkle red.

In decent shape but the wrap is coming loose on the kick drum.

Now I can't remember how many lugs the snare has. 8 I think.

The kick has 10.

I'm guessing that they are not very desirable but they look pretty cool.

Should I grab them?

And what is a decent price to pay for a set like this that needs some repair?

Thanks in advance guys.

You say that the bass drum has 10 lugs. If the lugs are in the middle of the shell on both the BD and TT it could be the "Jam Session Outfit". I believe that this was a student model drum set. Do the drums have top and bottom heads?

They do have top and bottom heads.

The lugs are not in the middle.

There are 10 for the front head and 10 for the rear.

I'll get some pics tomorrow.

They look just like the ones at the top of the page in the link above.

The only difference is they are red sparkle.

Finding a floortom won't be out of the question, even if originally it was a "jobber" set. as long as you are okay with a 16x16".14" floortoms are hard to come by and expensive when you do find them. If the bass has 20 lugs then its a 22" anyway so 12 or 13/16/22 with a matching snare?

If the price is right, you got yourself a cool little project.

Yeah, I'm going to be able to get them pretty cheap.

I didn't get a chance to get pics yet.

The wrap is coming loose on the bottom of the kick drum but otherwise they are in decent shape.

The kick needs the spurs/legs I think.

The snare looks to be in great shape.

Here is what appears to be a matching floor tom for them.

It's a little pricey I think.

I guess nobody around here wants to offer up any info or opinions. :/

You can make a set of spurs by going to a hardware store and getting stainless steel rods in the correct diameter and putting regular floortom feet on them, I've seen other members grind the tips down to a point but that's a lot of work.

As for getting a floortom it's tough to let some of the eBay ones go but, some times they just want too much. try posting on the want to buy section on here. Most of the guys on here have a heart and aren't trying to rip you off.
