How much does a 1960's Slingerland Sound King go for? From pictures I can tell that it has a few spots that need some tlc but overall in good shape, prices?!

If you're patiently hunting for bargains, you can find a 5" Sound King in the low $100's. They're pretty plentiful in the $200+ range. 6.5" drums generally seem to start around $300.

If you're looking at Sound Kings, pay attention to the condition of the Zoomatic strainer. Some things like replacing a missing adjustment knob can be an expensive fix.

The five inchers will fetch from $100 to $150 or so depending on condition.

You should be able to get a 6.5 in good+ or better for around $250.

Underrated drums, with an underrated price tag.

I gave $105 for this 5x14 a little over a year ago.

And $220 for a 6.5 a month or two before that.

From the single picture the person has given me it is definitely a 6.5 Sound King and he hasn't emailed me back about his definition of "tlc" but hopefully it'll turn out good :D

Make sure you see a picture of the badge. There were some Slingerland snares made overseas in the 1980s and/or 1990s that look like the old Sound Kings. They're MUCH lower quality drums, though -- steel shells, cheaper lugs, etc.
