58 Slingerland snare question Last viewed: 2 hours ago

A buddy sold me this shell...

He drilled the f#%@ out of it....

11X14, mahogany...

How hard would it be to make 2 snare shells from it? Would that be too much of a sin?

If you can turn it into something that you will use why not... Plus it's a project that may keep you out of trouble for a while...

Here's one of something similar done.. my favourite colour too..

If you don't mind buying another re enforcement ring, it's an easy job. I did a 58 WFL and used the original rings. So it was bit of a job getting that one ring off the scrap piece.

#1. The shell is from an old marcher that is not in desirable.

#2. The damage has already been done in case someone did want that marcher

#3. You can get 2 very nice snare drums out of that shell--one with a cool badge.

#4. Snare drum lugs and other needed parts are plentiful online and from fellow forum members.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

@Destiny

That is gorgeous

@Leedy

I agree. It resonates quite a bit just when you tap the shell. The wood has a note without being assembled.
