50s Slingerland BD and tom in BDP Last viewed: 22 hours ago

Loading...

Ok you guys - this guy has been sitting on these drums for probably a year now. I don't know what to make of it. Those lugs on the BD don't seem right. I can not find a pic of a 50s Slinger BD with those lugs - look more like Luddy or Leedy.

At any rate, here is the deal. These are just over an hour away from me. If one of you want these, I will go pick them up, ship them out to you, so long as you pay for the shipping (of course), my gas money and let me have the MIJ floor tom.

I was thinking about flipping these, but don't want to take the risk (no capital either) and thought I would just share the good deal instead of marking it up.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

the floor tom is a Mia/ Mit/ Mij, drum not Slingerland, the bass drum looks to have ludwig lugs on it. get better pics inside shell pics are a must.

I asked him for more pics and will post them here once I get them.

What do the claws indicate? Appear to be straight rods - no Ts.

I HAVE seen one sided (lugs) Slingerland toms from that era - so that could be a legit mounted tom, though the one I saw had single-flanged hoop with mini claws/clips.

is that floor tom wrapped in carpet?

Yeah - funny/typical that a member named 'deadhead' would notice that! I saw quite a bit of that furry stuff when I was a kid in the 70s, as I have 3 older brothers. I have no idea what it does to the performance of the drum. I would think it would kill some resonance. If I acquire it, I have plans for it that does not involve the fur.

Hey guys - see that BD - if it is actually a Ludwig, are those not the original claws and tods - calls for T-rods and different claws right?

I have recently learned that there also would be some cracked cymbals and some odd and end hardware pieces thrown in.....as part of my proposed deal seen above, I stake claim to that stuff as well. If any of it is parts for either one of these drums (Slingerland / Ludwig) then I would not claim those but pass those along. Just want to be clear. No, I have not seen any of this other stuff yet.

I will be posting pics once I get them.

I was also told that there are lug holes at the bottom of the tom - so it a double headed tom. and that the grain is all horizontal on these 2 BDP drums.

Awaiting pics.
