That last link doesn't appear to work. I thought the earlier video was good after I listened through decent speakers. I think the 2009 Ludwigs easily won the 'clarity with vintage vibe' for me. Very impressive actually. You've got to give it to Ludwig; they've never taken the job lightly.

Ok love the sound of the vintage luds but they are tuned lower and in neither case can you hear the base drum to my ears it is a jazz type tuning on both sets... but i will say this i have recently gotten a 6 ply kit 1988 models buddy rich reissue and they are flat out amazing if fact i like this kit more than any other kit I have owned except my cleveland rogers drums...
