I don't believe I've seen any 3-ply Ludwig kicks deeper than 14 inches. Have ya'll encountered any? I'm seeing an add for a 3-ply kick that's listed as 24x16. Doesn't seem right, but I've been surprised before.
3-Ply Kick Depths?
Currently looking for a 3-ply 24x14 Ludwig in champagne sparkle w/rail consolette and cymbal mount!
Randy had one Ludwig that was 20x18 or 20x20 so yes deep 3 ply factory bass drums are out there.

I've got an original Ludwig Trans Badge kit that is 20/12/16. The bass drum is a 20" that is 18" deep. Ludwig was using this drum in their Compacto setup at the time as well. I assume that mine was a special order. It is also factory wrapped in Starlight Sparkle which was available at the time but not listed in the Ludwig Catalog.

Thanks, guys! I guess this really might be a 24x16 I'm looking at.
Mike, that starlight sparkle is awesome!

They're out there but rare.
Lot's of drums get mis-measured when they include the hoops in the depth measurement. Certainly worth checking out because with Ludwig you just never know but I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a 14x24. Then again the deeper sizes were first coming into vogue just about the same time as the switch from 3 plies to 6 so anything's possible.

That is really really neat!

Thanks Zach and Mitch. I've actually now got a matching snare (Thanks Jerry!) for it and a 13" tom as well. The 18x20 takes some getting used to for sure. It's a cannon.
The sun does tricks on this color taking pics. The wraps look different here but are identical in color/tint.

I owned a 60's thermogloss 20"x20" bass drum 3 ply shell.
Wow! Have not seen one of those Mark.
