21" bass drum?

Loading...

I know vintage drum shells are commonly not the same size as modern drums and I have plenty of these, but this one is puzzling me. I have a Premier 21" bass drum. Can anyone give me some insight on the history of this size? Also where can I buy 21" wooden hoops and how difficult will it be to get heads?

Is Remo making 21" or will I be making calf skins?

Thanks,

More than likely it's actually a "Pre-international" size.

A 21" BD does not exist it's either a 20" or 22" BD.

You're either not measuring it correctly or it's terribly out of round and you can't get a proper diameter.

Either 19 5/8 (20")

or

21 5/8 (22")

Measure across from lug to lug at all lug points.

Heads can be ordered from REMO as a custom order (6 to 8 week lead time).

Hoops will be difficult to find and may need to be custom made. You can Ebay US or Ebay UK for BD hoops.

Someone here might have them as a lark.

Got it. The drum is 21 & 3/4"

Thanks for the info. I'll be looking for hoops and contacting Remo.
