20's Ludwig Snare Help! Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

Hello!

I'm new to the forum here, but I love the knowledge that everyone here has! I have the opportunity to purchase a vintage Ludwig snare drum that appears to be a 20s Deluxe model judging by the pictures in the Rob Cook Ludwig book. It has the scroll engraving and engraved Ludwig Chicago logo, but it looks like it's been painted over with gold.

Any experts care to take a shot at this one?

I may also be interested in selling it if it doesn't fit my needs at my studio.

Thanks everyone!!

Thanks for the welcome!

It is the 8 lug version - 5x14. I pretty much thought it would be the best snare sound I could get. I currently own a 70's acrolite and a early 2000's Mapex Birdseye Maple Black Panther. I'll try to take some better pics and get them posted this afternoon.

Jeremy, seriously buy the drum if it's reasonable, here is a 1924 model ten lug, and It is my favorite snare drum and I own a bus load of them.
