2013 Chicago Drum Show, your help is needed Last viewed: 10 hours ago

Loading...

I am hoping that someone on here may be able to help. While tearing down after the Chicago drum show an SKB cymbal case with 10-12 brand new Amedia cymbals in it went missing. There were a lot of people moving about and loading stuff up at the same time so I am hoping that it is a simple matter of the case inadvertently being put into the wrong vehicle by accident. Dominick from Amedia is doing an inventory right now to try and find out exactly what cymbals were in the case and I will post that info when I have it.

Please keep an eye out for anyone that is suddenly trying to sell a bunch of brand new Amedia cymbals, local pawn shops in the St. Charles and Chicago areas etc.or elsewhere just in case. If you have any information on case please contact me or Dom at Amedia so we can get this back to him if possible.

It was a hard SKB case and belongs to Amedia Cymbals, I am just putting the word out trying to help him find it. Rob Cook has been notified and a police report was filed.

That sucks big time...in all the years of the show..this is only the second time I recall something stolen..

Problem is...whoever got them, will prolly really like them, and just play them..never sell them..at least for a while....

Sorry to hear. Hopefully someone grabbed the wrong cymbal case and returns them. Do the cymbals have any type of serial number on them? Or ink markings etc? I have yet to see/hear some of them and hear great things about them.

Glenn.

I don't believe that his cymbals have serial numbers on them but they should all have the Amedia Cymbals stamp. Dom and his son were lading out and had brought some cases outside the door (about 20 feet from where had his cases lined up) and were gone for less than 30 seconds and when he come back in one case was missing.

Yes, the cymbals sound amazing, I am actually leaning towards selling off some of my 80's - 90's ZIldjian A's to buy some of his cymbals. Several of his Classic or Vintage series have that warm buttery sound that you would get from an old K but at a fraction of the cost. He had an amazing 26" ride there this past weekend that sold for $300.00!!!! The ride cymbal that he loaned me for one of the kits in my booth had a very warm tone to it but also had a very nice stick ping to is as well. If you haven't checked them out then I would highly reccommend giving them a listen.

There aren't any up there because 1. They are still a relatively new company and there aren't a ton of them out there to begin with. & 2. The cymbals sound good enough that people don't want to sell them once they have them. There is a reason why you don't see certain used gear.

Unfortunately there are still light fingered idiots that make a point of showing up at closing time, for the purpose of theft. Is anyone really that surprised? There are many who attended the show as vendors who eyeball your stuff as well...Sad but true.
