2, 1965 Ludwig Supra's

Both these Supraphonics sport (close) serial numbers. The Supra on the left is an 8 lug with serial # 214561, and the 10 lug on the right is #214170. The left one has flaking/pitting throughout, and the one on the right has not a pit one. I have pondered the thought of this "plating issue during the process", and I understand, although there may have been an issue, did it happen in this small timeframe? Thought it was interesting enough to show a photo.

I would think it would of been one of the particular vendors providing the chrome plating as being the culprit, Reliable being one of the company's that was contracted by ludwig.

I presume you have enough provenance on the 8 lugger to be sure it wasn't an Acrolite which a later owner put Imperial lugs on and had chromed? That would place the issue of chrome flaking in some somebody else's domain.

Bill (mvibes) from Classic Vintage Drums just had an 8-lug supra for sale..

guess they're quite rare..but they do exist!

and Ludwig did make them!
