1975 Sonor Champions - How much?

Loading...

Hi all,

The set in questions is a set of 1975 Sonor Champions (serial number 504, made in April of 1975), 12",13" and 14" tom with a 16" floor tom and 22" base. Comes with the original solid copper drum key.

The lugs and hoops I would say 8.5, and the shell (a metallic red) is about a 8. Drums are very clean.

Oddly (or maybe not so oddly ehehe), it comes with the original cylindrical gig cases/boxes, which are made of this thick black cardboard/fiber board and leather straps. There is one box for each of the drums, and a large upright rectangular box for the stands and hardware. The set belongs to a drummer that used to work clubs back in the day, so the cases have seen better days, I would rate them 5 or 6.

How much would you guys say the set would be worth?

Thanks in advance,Clapping Happy2

Are you buying or selling?

The Champions were the last of the rounded bearing edge drums produced by Sonor. 6 ply, no rings, good solid beach shell. They have identical lugs to the Phonics which replaced them and were 9 ply beech shells with sharp bearing edges. Although they look almost identical, the Phonics are arguably the better drums and prices will reflect that. Based on the condition you have stated I would estimate $400-$500. The cases probably don't add much value based on their condition.....nice for shipping though. You don't say anything about hardware....that could prop up the price some more.
