1971 Ludwig Jazzette Sky Blue Pearl

Got this yesterday... '71 Jazzette with a Super Sensitive. Clear interiors, close serials, no problems. Original owner custom ordered with an off-centered rail mount and cymbal L-arm mount. $1400, included all original hardware and cases. And when I was loading the drums in the car, the guy said, "Oh wait, you might want these..." and he went to his car and took out the original heads!

That is absolutely beautiful! We need to start a jazzette club! Mine is 70's and I dont have spurs like yours. Mine are straight legs. I also have the rail in the center as that was probobly standard. Is it odd having the rail over there being that it is an 18" bass drum? do you have to angle the cymbal arm to make it all work? Lastly, do you plan to gig on these? Very nice score. I love hearing about this stuff.

I've actually been thinking of making a jazzette tribute page. Would you guys be interested in that? I just did a search and there's a ton more pictures and info on jazzettes than there was even a year ago. I have a feeling jazzette kits are going to skyrocket in value, like gretsch rb 18" bd kits did. So hold onto 'em!

The larger spurs are really cool...maybe a little easier to adjust...more of the B/O vibe I guess. I REALLY love this kit...long, warm, sustain and focus from those 3 ply maples. If I had to only have one kit I think it would be this one. The tom placement is a little odd, but it's in a perfect location for me all the way to one end of the rail. I don't personally like bass drum mounted cymbals so the L-arm won't be staying...cool to have the option though.

I will most definitely be gigging these babies...the main reason I bought them!

Me too!! Sounds like a good idea. I'm bringing my Jazzette set to the Manchester drum show to display in my Ludwig History booth. I thought it would look cool and it is small enough to set up without taking up too much room.
