1970s Slingerland Bass Drum Question

Loading...

I just recently purchased the set-o-matic double tom holder for my 1970s white diamond Slingerland kit. It fits fine; however, on the bass where the stem of the set-o-matic goes into the bass drum, there is a non-threaded hole used to keep the the stem from moving (At least that is what I think it would be for). I can't find the piece for this, and I don't understand how it tightens without there being any threading for the bolt (or whatever) to hold onto. If anyone could explain this piece to me and, perhaps suggest what could be used in place of the original bolt, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Brandon

Geez, that's a bummer!! It sounds like you're missing the copper strap nut that is supposed to be on the other side of the hole. Heres a pic of what it should look like from the underside. You may be able to find this part through internet sources or perhaps find a nut that fits the thread at a hardware store. Someone here may have them as well. There's two mounts in the pic only because I have two and was doing a side by side comparison of buffed and patina'd washers but it should be helpful to you.

This seller on eBay often has the strap nuts and proper Slingerland bolt for your need.

I don't see that they have them right now, but you might contact them ?

I've bought several from them and have been well pleased.
