+2. Just gently clean the interiors and let them be.

Thank you all for the replies. I have actually read through this forum many times and learned what to look for because of this site. Here is a picture of the cool looking mute:

If I was actually to use this kit for gigs I might have to change a few things. The floor tom legs do not slide so easily, the need for a wrench to adjust the tom on the rail mount, and the bass drum legs would likely cause the drum to walk. These things though I find interesting and now I can understand the value in leaving things how they were made. In fact I looked over the kit for any extra holes and so forth before I made my offer.

It also came with some non Ludwig single braced hardware that was made in Taiwan. Does the original speed king pedal have any value? I saw many online for the $50 range.

You did great price-wise for the kit. However, there appears to be some black mold, or mildew inside the bass drum. You can remove it and kill the mold with mix of bleach & water. Be sure to wear a face mask and rubber gloves whenever cleaning up after mold or mildew. Once you track down the missing parts and throw a new set of heads on them, the kit will be worth more than twice what you paid for it.John

Where are you seeing black mold? I don't see anything. Maybe there was another photo that I missed.

Sure there is some dirt and such but I don't see any black mold.

I just found some more clubbies on the cheap back in my hometown. A very nice kit for not much more than I paid.

I used some simple green on a rag and then a little bleach on a damp rag to start this party. I really was supposed to be using this time to practice. Anyway the paint now looks new on the inside. The outside of the wrap with just the simple green was now showing my reflection. Top left shows all the crud that had built up on the inside of this floor tom. After I cleaned it all up I use a hair dryer to make sure there was no moisture hanging around. I also have a heat gun but I did not want that much heat so as not to warp anything. The results are very promising so far.

I took it by Shawn's place today (Anchor Drums) to show him the small issues to sort out. He said it looked good for the most part.

those are in really nice condition. that floor tom is superb and certainly not one that you see every day. while cleaning the interiors, don't clean the area that has a date stamp if you see one. they wipe right off.

Mike,

Unfortunately the only drum with a date stamp remaining is the 12" tom. I have looked closely in both the floor tom and bass drum. Perhaps I will find one after removing the rest of the hardware but I doubt it.

There are some areas where the covering is missing. These are about the size of a dime at largest or smaller. Ideas on how to patch these areas up? I would prefer to patch them vs. just leave them alone. Just to be clear these are not drill holes or extra holes. I am having a new front hoop made so I will have some extra material to try a patch.

some people have taken some wrap from under a lug or a mount to patch a drum. its usually just a drill holes though. dime size might be pushing it. surely someone here will know..
