Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am not all that handy, but when it comes to drums I actually am, if for no other reason than repeated experience.

Thanks for the suggestion, Rich K. I actually would like to convert it to this Gretsch Tom Mount:

I know the down tube is 1" on that, while the Slingerland is 5/8". However, I am wondering if the top part of that Gretsch mount (where it attaches at the top and gets much narrower on the tube) is easy to get off? I would assume that it is probably even less than 5/8" in diameter at the very top. If that's the case, I thought about taking my existing double tom mount (or any 5/8" down tube; they are pretty common) and having threads cut on the top of it, so I could (hopefully) fit that Gretsch mount on top of the 5/8" tube, than hold it down securely with a stop nut or something. Maybe it won't work but it is just a thought. I have a post in the "Wanted To Buy" section of the forum for that Gretsch mount.

The reason I don't want to go to a Set-O-Matic tom mount is:

A. They are pretty common, and I kind of like the uniqueness of mine (even in it's current, crappy supporting state).

B. All the Set-O-Matic's I have seen are drilled into the drum, like a Pearl mount (albeit skinnier). I know I could just use the Set-O-Matic bracket (bracket mounting holes would line up with current clip mounts) and not drill through for the main support arm, but the toms are already too far apart for my liking, and that would make them even further apart.
