Loading...

SOLD! - thanks everyone

Vintage 1966 Ludwig ‘Downbeat’ Outfit, complete with factory matched Jazz Festival Snare Drum in original Champagne Sparkle wrap.

8” x 12” rack tom

14” x 14” floor tom

14” x 20” bass drum

5” x 14” jazz festival snare drum

drums are in amazing, barely played condition to the point where the bass drum hoops don’t even need a touch up. serial numbers are all very close and first 3 numbers are consecutive -

serial #’s:

346416 - 20” Bass Drum

346314 - 12 Rack Tom

346083 - 14 Floor Tom

346427 - Snare Drum

white interiors, white felt mufflers, all drums are complete with original ludwig parts and even some original ludwig heads.

the drums in fantastic condition and proudly one of the cleanest kits from any brand I’ve ever had to offer.

unfortunately it seems some fool back in the day thought it would be a good idea to try and turn the 14” floor tom into a snare! (sigh…) It seems said fool had drilled very tiny holes to put a throw off and a butt plate on the drum. luckily he did not cut snare beds into the drum and eventually re thought the whole idea. the holes have been filled and are very very hard to even see, please view the pics. this pains me greatly as this kit would be a museum piece time capsule if it wasn’t for this moronic boob’s alteration. luckily, the holes are very tiny and hard to even photograph and are literally barely noticeable. i do have a small piece of original champagne sparkle to patch them but again they are so small it would be fairly difficult to even do.

the tom, kick and snare are in incredible condition otherwise. the snare is collector’s grade for sure.

anyway, the kit sounds fantastic, displays beautifully and is by far the cleanest downbeat kit i’ve ever offered.

selling this set with the original flat base snare drum stand, speed king pedal, porto throne and cymbal L arm

take it all for $2,500 + shipping

let me know if you are interested

thanks!

he's just being a b**ch cuz he bought something from me almost a year ago and had to have a reason to complain. the drum was a black oyster pearl ludwig 60's keystone downbeat snare in great shape, BUT he wasn't happy, even after:

-i spent a few hours over multiple phone calls patiently,

-sent him a bunch of pics,

-answered all of his questions as best i could,

-agreed to sell him the drum at a discounted rate,

-since he didn't have paypal I had to find an alternate way for him to pay which was a major inconvenience but was able to accommodate him.

then when he finally gets the drum, he had to complain about some trivial bullish*t, something about the strainer sticking, and i remember something about the hoops not being COB, even AFTER i did a magnet test with him on the phone and told him!!!

overall this goon is a major pain in the arse to me at this point, always making stupid knocks at me on every post i make on here. he just better mind his manners before i run into him at a drum show...

it would be in anyone's best interest not to deal with this fool as he seems to be incredibly Anal-retentive and if your item isn't museum grade he will talk s**t on your posts.

ok so now I am a goon,( got your B***h) there would not of been a problem if you would be honest in your assessment of what you say is mint, and then to say you will make it right and ignore the problem, you have a lot of brass name calling come here and say it to my face, as far as I am concerned your not worthy of a comment back ...even so that does not give you the right to say mint and send junk call a spade a spade after all the dollars i spent to get it mint so be it ... but what I received was a hack job, don't forget the promise of ill send the parts...if I ever saw one now I would say forgive and forget( every one deserves a 2nd chance)as I am good with that but that was before your comment, sinking to the dredges, what! cant sell your goods any were else because of lack of integrity? so you think a little time goes by and you can just try again. I say this customer service is very important here at VDf, which you lack no matter what the complaint try and make it right don't ignore the goon that is a buyer with remorse is that the word you use for all your customer once you get paid?

Buyer beware here, VDF members that's your choice check the goods out before you by them ... as lately the east coast idea of mint is not mine thats a good reason to having a grading system in place . Magnet test you sure are a little twisted sister with your memory..I never left a comment before in seller feed back on the deal just to let it slide as I figure young and and inexperienced but I guess your very experienced LOL

Ah, a little riff here to go with my afternoon tea. :)

The term "mint" is always a toughie. Personally, I don't think anything 30-40+ years of age can be classified as "mint". Even if never opened, in boxes.
