1965 Ludwig 3 pc. Drum Set

Loading...

1965 Ludwig drum set in Black Diamond Pearl. Sizes are 14x20, 9x13 and 16x16. This is a gorgeous factory-matched kit! No extra holes. A section of the inner ply of the bass drum had splits, which were expertly repaired by Jack Lawton. The work is outstanding, as always, and unnoticeable. The toms feature dual small round mufflers, the bass drum had two pairs of telescoping spurs, and the toms/bass have white interiors. The chrome looks brilliant and all hardware is complete and original. Bearing edges are original as well. Bass drum cymbal L arm is included.

Thanks! The 14x20 bass drum is a great size - plenty of punch and versatility, and it fits easily is the back seat of a car.

Here's the info on the keystone badge serial numbers:

230615 9x13 tom

230606 16x16 floor tom

219934 14x20 bass

A really beautiful kit...... in great condition also, looks fantastic!!

Congratulations to you.

Just curiousity: the two small round mufflers on tom were installed after?

My limited knowledge indicates that in ยด65s Ludwig still used the "baseball bat" and only for the top.

Please enlighten me with your knowledge!

Good luck with your sale

Well, with Ludwig anything goes! The dual mufflers are factory installed - not aftermarket. You see this occasionally, with the bass drums having two sets of spurs. The mufflers are those usually seen on the early '60s Ludwig drums but sometimes on late '60s ones as well. Interestingly, the '65 Supra that came with the set (close serial number, too) also has the same small knob muffler. I'm holding onto the Supra for now.
