So my 1967 Ludwig Mother Of Pearl Blue rotted out. I went on ebay to find a matching kick drum in wrap not in year and ended up with a 1961. It has the single hole drill out for the legs but they do not sit on the ground no matter how far I have them out. Anyone else had this issue? The only thing I can think to do is heat the leg to bend it?
1961 Ludwig Bass Drum
Would the telescope legs work?
Can you give us pics?
What size bass drum?
What do the legs look like you are trying?
Are the legs you are trying from your old bass drum?
Is your old bass drum a 20" and the new one a 22"? Are they the same size?
If they are the same size, are the holes in the same panel? In other words, are they the same distance around the side of the drum?
Are the legs like this?

Or were they fold out ones like this?

I'm not quite clear on what you mean by "one hole drill out"
Did you have those fold out spurs custom made? I would like to get a pair of those for myself.

Custom made? No those come from Drummaker.com under Bass Drum Parts > Bass Drum Spurs (part 8778LG) but beware they are 10.5 mm and don't fit vintage drums which need 9.5mm diameter ones to fit in the old school FT mounts. I had some but the original Ludwig Classic FT brackets had to be swapped out with the ones Drummaker recommend. The hole pattern of the Ludwig brackets is the same as the FT brackets they recommend (but it pays to check that the specs haven't changed). So it isn't a permanent change to a vintage drum.
Danmar produce them in 9.5mm but those don't have the clever knurled knob system to have either points or rubber stopper. But they doo look more like the original Ludwig ones. They are Danmar part 1036. Now the odd thing is that some of Drummaker's stuff comes from Danmar but they don't seem to have the 1036s in their Drummaker stock. Maybe you can ask Drummaker to get them in. Or Google around for somebody who does have them...
I've always found it hard to find retailers who stock Danmar stuff in general. Many have a few particular items...
Here is a temporary link to an eBay seller who has them (at a price!)
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Ludwig-Bass-Drum-Spurs-DANMAR-Vintage-Parts-1036-/150574015548#ht_989wt_907
and you can see them on the Danmar site but only in a group photo

I had them on a microkit with a 16" FT as the bass and you can just see the bottom of one peaking out:
I really like those Ludwig repro spurs. Do you knw the specs on the rod size? I wonder what type of mount would work with those and look good with beavertails.

Rod size: do you mean length or diameter? I only know the diameters, which are as I said before: Danmar = 9.5mm, Drummaker (actually they used to be made by Trick) = 10.5mm. If you only speak American: 9.5mm is 3/8" (0.374") which is pretty much the standard on vintage American hardware, and 10.5 is 27/64" (0.413386"). Classic Ludwig Tom mounts accept 3/8" (that's Ludwig part number P1216). So do many others.
Alas I can't measure the length of my old Drummaker ones because I sold that kit on. My current 1969 Ludwig kit has the original telescoping ones as in the first pic I posted.

Thanks! Yeah I meant Diameter. Just need to know what size mounts to get. I'm looking at some vinatge Slingy Mounts for my kick and wondering if they would fit in those.
is it natural inside??i am very puzzled as to why my 22x12 seems to never have been painted inside,it also has the 22 scribbled inside maybe it was ordered unpainted??as to the spur problem, mine has the fold out type(similar to L arm) and it is a real struggle to keep them up enough to pick the front of the drum off the floor a couple inches, but then again these werent designed to house a pearl 2002c dbl pedal.and everything stay tight lol!! but the 22x12 sounds amazing and tight almost like a 20.very quick and punchy, just use the felts in different spots on the quad beater to offset the tone.ok im way off thread!!im new,sorry..........Excited
