This is my 1959 Slingerland Radio King Set...purchased used in 1963. They were "on loan" for over 25 years and recently retrieved...the picture you see is after a thorough cleaning, where I took them down to the wrap which is still perfectly intact...simply cleaned the wrap with a damp sponge and used chrome polish on the hardware and reassembled. I did strip and repaint the BD hoops, and replaced the inlays. It's a testament to how good quality lasts.

Bet they sound sweeter than Yoo Hoo !!!!
Wow! Looks fantastic! Is the snare 1 ply? Also, is that a Rogers cymbal or tom mount next to the badge of the BD?
Yes, the snare is 1-ply...as for that "mount" on the bass drum, I don't know what it is or how it got there....I discovered that it was definitely an "aftermarket" whatever-it-is when I took the BD apart for cleaning...the strange part is that I can't remember if it was there when I first got the drums (long time ago), and I haven't had them in my possession since 1968. Inside it looks like whoever put that thing on there actually removed the drum badge when they drilled the 3 holes for the mount and then put it back on...the gromet is bent up on the inside of the drum, but nothing shows on the outside. I'd take that mount off except that there are three small holes in the shell now and since all the wrap is in perfect shape, I'm not going to replace it. Just have to live with that small bit of annoyance, I guess. Maybe if I find the missing part of that thing, I could complete it and put another cymbal on it. The set never had a second tom-tom so I don't think I'll go that route.
