1957 WFL Club Date 22/13/15/Jazzfest Green/Gold Duco!

Hey y'all!

I just finished up cleaning this puppy up. Ill post a cooler pic once I get an Aquarian AV on the bass drum and the reso head on the 15. Considering making some sort of WFL decal...but I dont know. Might just go with the classic Ludwig logo.

This one is all original. Killer condition other than a little paint chip here and there. Id love to hear what you guys think about it in terms of rarity. The fact that the bass drum has a maple inner ply I thought was a little strange. Is that not out of the ordinary? I havent seen many of these Green/Gold kits around...even though they were shown in the catalogue.

At any rate...cheers!

very nice kit. john-purdie shuffle had a clubdate kit in this color and sizes close to that. it looked great too. the clear maple interiors on the bass drums do show up from this period and through the early 60's. these 22's sound amazing. nice find!

as far as a bass drum reso head decal is concerned, Bentleys drum shop was selling some on ebay for a while. I assume it was a design that they had come up with. I liked it. I bought one to go on the calf head of my 17/12/14 maple clubdates as the bass drum is a 48-52 badge wfl. they were selling them under seller name California93704 I think. haven't seen any online in a while though. might be able to contact them direct. they were very inexpensive..

Hey John,

Didnt you do that paint job yourself? Or is that factory? Anyone else have a factory set like this?

Thanks! I think it is pretty great too! Can't decide if I like it better than my 1969 Ludwig Standard in Avocado Strata or not! Im a Packer fan, so this is the perfect kit! The only complain I have is that the floor tom legs are super short. They are push button spring loaded style, and they work great...they are just wicked short.

I threw some new coated emperors on the toms and snare today. They sound amazing. Tuned right up. Might go with a suede ambassador on the front of the bass drum...after that Im probably gonna try the Aquarian American Vintage heads. I have em on my Gretsch Round Badge kit and they sound great.

Thanks Mike for suggesting Bentleys Drum Shop for decals. We are in the process of working out a deal on one!
