I worked w/ Roy Harte throughout the nineties when he had turned his Drum City in Hollywood into Vintage Drum City. He was one of the most knowledgeable drum gurus in S Calif. He is somewhat overlooked, & given short paragraphs in the Jazz history books, but he left a big mark on West Coast Jazz, in his own way. He recorded the Jazz greats in his studio, performed, & was an enthusiastic promoter of all things percussive. He was at one time a Slingerland/Leedy endorser, as well as Gretsch.
