I received these drums from a friend who wants to know more about them. They were his fathers and he wants to know if they're worth selling or if he should hang on to them. We think it's a 1940's kit based on the badge and accoutrements, but we're not sure. Any help identifying or figuring out value would be much appreciated! Thanks VDF.

your Gretsch drums are 50's year model. how many drums are there and the sizes?

Looks like '50s 3-ply Gretsch to me. Too bad it doesn't have a floor tom. It probably never did. Many outfits sold in that era had no floor tom.
Even though there is damage to the chrome from exposure to the elements over the years, this kit still is worth keeping around, IMO.

Is the small muffler knob hex sided on the BD?..They only did that for a while..
Are drums silver paint inside?
They came out with the lugs on your drums in 1950,so no older then that....

Yes, it is hex sided but no silver sealer. Any estimate on the value? It seems like pre-60s stuff is all over the board.

I have NEVER seen a G. date stamp past 1953 inside bare maple shelled drums,like yours.......and have NEVER seen a date stamp on any silver interior drums...
So..new lugs in 1950...silver paint in 1954...somewhere in there they have to be.......

Hex head BD damper control knob...between '50 or '51. Pretty certain hex knob is pre-52.
