Hello all,
This is a 40's RK 7"X14" . If you look closely near where the bottom of the glue rings end you will see an area of about 1/4 " wide that circles around the entire diameter of the drum. It 's on both the batter and reso side. It looks like the shell is ever so slightly thinner at the top and bottom of the drum. Did they router out 1/32 of an inch or so where the glue rings are glued? I've never removed a glue ring so I have no idea what's under there...... It looks like a ply lines the interior but I know this is a solid shell. Also there is what appears to be a seam that runs across the depth of the drum. My 50's RK 5.5 solid shell looks nothing like this. I have not seen any other RK interiors so I have nothing else to compare too..... I don't think this was modified but who knows....... Any thoughts?
Thanks
