Hi, everyone....

I just finished this restoration and thought I'd share some photos. This finish was only offered for a brief time and "Emerald Green Pearl" was Ludwig's only green pearl finish.

Another beauty!

Do you have a thread anywhere where you describe your restoration process for these old drums? If one doesn't exist, please consider writing one. I'd love to know how (step by step,) guys like you and Mike C and others, approach restoring these valuable antiques. Questions like; how do you deal with cleaning lacquer, or wrap finishes as opposed to metal shelled drums, what types of cleaners do you use, how do you restore rusty metal, etc. Drum restoration is an art, please consider sharing what you know (what your process is,) with the rest of us. I think you'd be surprised at how many people's attention would be glued to your words

John

Too many great drums to list here!

John, I've posted one or two on some really tough restoration jobs (the Leedy & Ludwig Zebra drum and the Slingerland Lavender Pearl rescue. I'm not sure where they would be located. This particular restoration was fairly simple and it was mainly a case of buffing the hardware on a wheel and hand polishing the shell. It's amazingly un-faded, or at least there is no real difference between the exposed wrap and what's under the hardware.
