That's a pretty wild find. You stumbled across one of the most desired types of vintage drum!

Very nice drum. looks to me this light was installed long after it was manufactured. is that a plastic socket or porcelain? what would you think the date of the electrical is? the wires look old but then that's just wires. do not clean this drum up/ just wipe it with a damp cloth. and pass it onto someone who collects or uses them. just my advice. it is worth a good buck none the less.

if the plug looks ok and the heads are off set it on the table and plug it in quickly. so you could unplug just in case. I would not try to restore it yourself. a lot of times if your not a drum buff. you may do more negative effect to it rather than good. me...I would leave it as is. it, like an old leather jacket ( motorcycle) it has it,s scars and a tell tale marks of it,s journey through it,s life. a soft damp cloth with maybe some light windex spray onto the drum parts and wipe off right away. there is a finish on it that you donot want to remove. cleaning it aggressively will remove some of it,s beauty. a lot of drum shops concentrate on new stuff. you have to be patient, and choose the right person and place. to get it cleaned or restored. if your not going to collect or keep it. pass it on for a nice chunk of change. measure for in round check bearing edges for any damage. a drop of oil on the moving parts of the throw off (strainer) original name for the throw off. not the wires.
