1920s Black Beauty Last viewed: 20 minutes ago

Hi,

I have an old Ludwig snare I'd like so share. It's a black beauty that features the waves engraved on the shell. It's in good condition and I have used it on many recording sessions because it sounds amazing! I know it's valuable, but it would be great if someone here could give me a good idea on what exactly it is worth. I don't usually see these snares with the wave pattern, usually the flower or sometimes a leaf pattern. Does anyone know what the wave pattern could mean for its age and value.

Any information anyone has on this instrument would be greatly appreciated! I'll attach some photos.

Thanks!

Your pattern is early twenties, It`s pre Black Beauty known here as the DeLuxe model. Everyone`s gonna give you a different $$ amount so it`s best you search closed auctions and listen to some offers.

But don`t get me wrong,...it`s accepted as a Black Beauty, just not an official Ludwig Black Beauty label. That wasn`t til 35 !!

In good un-altered condition I`ve seen $800+ and also cautioned not more than $1,200.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Here's a page from the Luddy cat that is "close" to your drum.

Hope this helps fill in some of the blanks for you.
