It kind of resembles one of those silly little Pearl brass pic snares that are cheapy cheap. The way they wrote Ludwig on the badge kinda threw me at first. Check out the 'L' on that thing. Pretty strange. Anyway, I had not been following this thread until now. It seems like I'm late coming to the party, but we are definitely on the same page - pseudoLuddy.

OK.there is an end to this piccolo story and i must thank all members who have commented on my post. After trawling the net for days i stumbled across an add for a 70s pearl piccolo on usa ebay with enlarged images and zoom. It is the same drum as i have (but not for long ,its on its way back ) the lugs and shell are the same the rims and the pearl strainer matches my extra holes ...even the brass pearl plaque is exactly the same but obviously saying pearl ...and now i have seen it i remember that pearl plaque as some of you might now ive jogged your memory from back in the seventies ..again many thanks to all for comment a lesson learned. Luckily it is a good ending as the drum was bought off ebay .All the best for the New year..Flamtastic.

There should be some serious "repercussions" to being so bold as to try and sell such forgery..................sorry couldn't resist.

maybe there should be an "ebay stay-away" stickie?

I have recently acquired a 1976 Ludwig Piccolo 13" snare with the B/O badge, serial # 107xxxx. I measured and it's actually 3 1/2" deep x 13" wide, as I have it all disassembled to clean it up. In Rob Cook's The Ludwig Book, he mentions that from 1970 to 1991 Ludwig produced the 3 x 13 metal shell version of the Jazz/Combo. It looks exactly like my drum. I have read that Ludwig made the Piccolo in 3", 3 1/2" and 4" depths, is that true? Anyone else have one of these little beauties?

Happy New year!
