10 Lug Slingerland Niles Alum. snare Thoughts?

So never had a 10 lug. Fun to expand the Slingerland snare collection so bought this. I can always use the case :-)

Model 140 are killer sounding drums the 10 lug especially I have one. you'll be keeping it. Remo Emperor coated on top remo emperor snare side bottom head puresound 16 stand snare wires. it will roar.

Played the 140 next to the now nephews Ludwig LM-404 (Black Galaxy). Snares engaged 140 a bit more volume and crack. Snares off 140 has huge depth and tone. LM-404 just kinda thuds. SS would be a better test but don't have one.

So first bath and quick polish done. Complete tear down needed to get all the crap out of the ribs. Rims are COS which bit of a let down but drum is in great shape. Serial #374715 which best I can tell is 1978'ish. Heads appear original. True Tone stamps are lined up just to the left of the badge center hole. Funny how they used shell scrap for the seam bracing.

cool snare. I have a comparable alu Beverley 10 lugger. Amazing combination of dryness and openness in the sound. Really love it.
