Thanks, kevins. I had to pay for this one, though! I didn't get a great deal on it, money-wise. It's a pretty cool little drum (as far as it being a toy). Upon close inspection, you can see that the tin was scratched and then treated with some kind of chemical that gave it a surface finish that (I believe) was intended to mimic the look of a marine pearl. It looks like it was very lightly scratched with sandpaper or something and then treated with a chemical that grew strange crystalline structures from the scratches and then those crystals interacted with each other to form the weird marine patterning effect.
