Default 1927- LEEDY 4 x 14 & 5 x 14 SPARKLING GOLD PROFESSIONAL MODELS

Hi,
Here are two more from many years ago that I havenít done an article on yet. The 4 x 14 was found in the fertile waters of EBay. The 5 x 14 (and original case) was found locally in an antique shop by one of my students. It has been in my collection for almost 20 years.

THE SHELLS:
Both shells are in excellent condition with no extra holes. I truly believe that the 1920s Leedy Sparkling Gold (Gold Sparkle) finish is the best finish of all of the major drum companies, then and now. To me this finish looks like small gold flakes floating in oil.

THE HARDWARE:
The hardware on both drums is all original and came to me in great condition.

Iíd love to find a 6 x 14 version to finish the set.

Enjoy!

Those are great looking snare drums. I would have loved either of them to go with my 1963 Walberg & Auge set. I don't have seller's remorse about selling or trading away drums that I have loved. But, I have some regret about parting with the 14(diameter) x 16(depth) floor tom

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Beautiful snares. I personally preferred the 4-point strainer drums but lovely nonetheless.

...plus a bunch of mismatched Slingerlands that collectively make a pleasing noise.
