I own a Rogers Dynasonic chrome snare that was given to me as a Christmas gift in 1967. It has been sitting in storage for over 30 years, and since I really don't plan on ever using it, I have decided to sell it. But, before I do, I want to know exactly what I have. From pictures I've seen on the WEB, I feel this is a 1967+ vintage drum, not an early 60's model. The serial is 12951, which is stamped on a small oval badge. I was told by a locale drum guy that not all chrome Dynasonics are COB, which he said affects value. In looking at my shell, I can see no pitting of any kind, which would lead me to believe that it is COB. However, I want to be sure. Is there a resource I can access that will, based on serial number, help me document my drum? Any help from you Rogers experts out there would be very much appreciated.

Your local drum guy is mistaken as ALL chrome Dynasonics are COB.. ( with possibly the slight exception of the very first one's made by the Gretsch company for Rogers ) .. the actual main production was indeed COB and they stayed that way until the end. Your drum with it's serial of #12951 does indeed date at 1967... that is correct! Pics would indeed be great if you have any... especially for getting a bead on value/condition as the two of those are close relatives!

Beside the fact that you have the snare frame/wires and guards on backwards, your drum is INDEED a COB 5 line Dynasonic dating from 1967. It looks to be in BEAUTIFUL condition too. Rotate the snare frame and guards 180 degrees... voila! Here's a few pics of my 1965 7 line COB Dynasonic. Note the TAS and the guards...

If I could, I would like to put my hat in the ring for consideration of purchase. I have a 67 kit that this would feel right at home behind. Let me know the asking price, please.

I had to stare at your pictures a while before I understood what you were talking about. I can't even remember ever having the thing apart. Thanks.

I haven't thought about price yet. I am going to do a little more research and then I'll e-mail you with a price. Thanks

So sorry!... I assumed that you knew what the snare frame and guards were. My apologies! My 2nd pic will explain all I think. You want the Tension Adjustment Screw ( TAS ) strainer side with the guard that has the 1/2 moon cut out on that side as well. Whomever took it apart originally didn't know either!

I've got to say that the drum came this way. The drum has never been out of my hands for service or otherwise, and I have never removed the assemblies in question. Its a mystery!
