Hello everyone,
I just bought this 60's Slingerland snare on eBay. I bought it as soon as it popped up because it was only $175 and that's low for any Slingerland from this era in my experience. I believe it's an Artist Series from the late 60's but any experts that have an opinion would be welcomed to weigh in. Question: Does this look like the chocolate milk interior that someone tried to remove to you? Also, are you guessing this is single ply maple or 3 ply. I'm just wondering as I await the arrival of my new snare. Thanks https://ibb.co/YXvvqv1 https://ibb.co/1836wfd https://ibb.co/B35vYZ4 https://ibb.co/wSDDH70 https://ibb.co/6tnc6kg |

Yes, late 60's Artist model. Approx. '68 - '69. Highly unlikely to be a solid shell. Based on just the one picture, the interior may have been painted over with a darker brown and the exposed areas may be the original 'chocolate milk' interior finish. More/better pictures would help. The zoomatic knob is not original.

Strange how it's just sanded on the top and bottom, great score at $175

Thanks for the info. Yes, strange what someone did with the interior. I'll post more pics when it arrives.

You have a couple of odd tension screws as you can see, but they should be the COB stick saver rims, a good buy.

Arrived today. Cleaned up and new heads. Looks great as the older gentleman with my Sonor kit. And sounds absolutely killer.
