Default rogers powertone
Hi good folks of the drumming world,
I found these drums at a Goodwill, several years ago and gave them to my musical son to use. The boy is grown now and is a saxophone and guitar player so now they take up room and are no longer used. I know they have value but have not been able to find someone trustworthy to broker them for me. The local drum shop said they'd give me $200 for them but I think, from my limited research they are worth more. The big drum has a couple of broken bits, and the snare leather bit is broken but other than that they are solid and not cracked anywhere though some spots the red has faded to an orange on the big drum.
Please let me know a fair price, I was hoping to consign them at the drum shop but Inthink I shouldnt trust them.
the snare says #2424 Powertone Cleveland
cant seem to attach more than 1 pic

If that's a Cleveland kit it's worth -a lot more- than what they offered you. Do not sell them impulsively. Wait until one or two of our Rogers Guru's chime in. I have a sneaking suspicion that you're in for a surprise value-wise. You came to the right place.

Ploughman - You're on, the stage is yours.

Need a bit more information please.

How many drums and diameters please? That wrap is collectible, but value also depends on condition. It had a tendency to split over time. In good condition and depending on what hardware and cymbals are included, estimate from $600-1200 in good shape.

+1 with the above answer. A $200 is more than a slap in the face. Does appear to be a Cleveland-tagged kit, wrapped in very desirable Red Onxy Pearl. The toms appear to be 8x12 and 16x16, with a 5x14 Powertone snare drum. Though not shown, the bass drum is probably a 14x20, making the kit the very popular Headliner or similar, depending on what mounts are on it. Hope a picture of the bass drum can be posted.

Mark - Because of the rare wrap, (if) everything is in good condition I figure it could bring $1400. on the low side. What number would you put on it taking into consideration that were talking about it sight unseen. What's your Guesstimate.

John,

You are right in the ballpark with price! We just need to be sure that there is a bass drum and the size. Next, we need more info, with pictures, of any problems with the wrap. We all know that the Onyx wraps were prone to splitting. I've seen them split in such a way that it's difficult to see the split!

The Powertone snare drum, alone, is easily worth $400 dollars!

The 4 digit serial numbered snare should be a 3 ply. Perhaps the other are as well. Very nice drums!
