Can you help ID a mystery loop clamp style bracket?

Hello keen observers,

I was cleaning out my parts drawer and found this loop clamp style bracket. There are no brand markings and a search of the usual sites didn't turn up any matches. It's curved to fit a large diameter shell profile and hole spacing is 2 1/2 inches on center where they would contact the shell. It appears to be something that would mount an L arm or floor tom leg. Do you recognize the brand and use?

It's a shell mounted cymbal arm holder or gullwing spur bracket. It could be a MIJ copy.

Definitely not MIJ. Appears to be US vintage Walberg & Auge manufactured shell mount L-arm holder (or other accessory holder) which was utilized years ago by Ludwig, Slingerland, and other high end US drum brands. Highest quality!

That’s an early 1950’s Ludwig cymbal mount. It was the first type to mount to the shell rather than be clipped to the hoop or shot straight out of a bass drum spur-type mount.

It does not match the ones that WFL/Ludwig used. It is similar but is missing many details. I haven't seen any Slingerland ones that match exactly either. Star made one that was very similar in the early 60's. The Japanese companies copied most of their stuff from the American companies early on so that's why I say it may be a MIJ copy. They were often very similar but not an exact copy. Other times they were almost an exact copy.

Wait, I do see a difference. The ones I cited appeared to have a circular disc between the saddle mount and the pinch clip. That disc most likely had the holes to register a small pip on the bottom of the pinch clip. Thin Shell, you may be correct.

Does it work? Does it look like it belongs on the drum? What's the big hairy deal? That's my third cynical comment on this forum today.

Thanks all for your comments and photos. There is so much collective knowledge in this group to chime in on this stuff. This has been an item of curiousity in my spares drawer for years. I was considering selling it but might just hang onto it in case I pick up an old kit that needs one.
