Seems a bit wishful thinking for that shell pack.

My thoughts as well. I did contact the seller just to inquire about how they arrived at the starting price. Here's his response... "They were my 94 year old Uncles drums. He was a Professional musician (Drummer) and band leader in the 60s, 70s and 80s and he has sold many instruments in he past This is his price."

I'm also curious as to the year of 1947. I'm guessing that his uncle, at 94, may just be mistaken. The lugs on all the drums didn't come out until 1955.

What about the LUDWIG hardware that was drilled to fit! I HATE crossbreeding! And anyone that takes a drill to vintage shells!

This dude is probably in his seventies. Obviously, is not hip to the groove. Many years ago, I did not know a darned thing about guitars. I happened to acquire an amp. I listed it as a Fender Legend amp, as it had a Fender sticker on the top, and a Legend badge on the front. Many people tried to tell me that it isn't a Fender amp, It's just a sticker. This guy will feel as dumb as I did.

Based on the woefully inadequate pictures looks to be a '55-'57 kit. "Good condition Repainted white" per the seller. I wonder what wrap is under that paint. Pricing is probably only off by one zero. Thanks for posting Mark.

To be fair, the person just isn't aware of the market these days and likely is just trying to avoid the potential that they will price the stuff too low. Plus, if there is any emotional attachment to an item like a drum kit, after owning it and playing gigs with it for years, then an uninformed seller will try to attach extra value to it based on their history with it. Of course, that history is meaningless to most anyone else (unless the guy is/was a celebrity).
