Default Need a suggestion...
Hi guys,
I'm a new registered and I'm really happy to find this forum today!!!
I felt in love with vintage drumsets just some years ago when I sold my brand new mapex to buy a 1973 Hollywood by Meazzi drumset. My best decision in a while.

Then from Italy I moved to England for job reason and few days ago I found a really interesting drumset from a local guy. It is suppose to be a Ludwig Rocker from the late '80s I think as the badges are all white and black.
I've been thinking to buy this drumset but I have a doubt about the badge numbers, which makes me in doubt about it's uniqueness and value.
I'm sorry my question may be will sounds to all of you a bit weird or "just the same question", so my apologies for my ignorance about...

My question for you is...
How the Ludwig badges on a same kit are usually numbered?
It's because looking this "Ludwig" set I found it has a completely different number on each badge. I mean something like 6201354, 6714568, 6349876....(of course those I wrote are not the real numbers, are just an example of what I mean).
To be original what I have to expect to read on the plate..I have to expect a serial number like 3201234, 3201235 or as described above?

wow I wrote way too much...sorry...
Thanks for your help, will be really appreciated.

It's not unusual for drum kits to not have serial numbers that are sequential numbered. What color are the interior of the drums natural wood or a grey/brownish coating inside the shells? Oh and welcome to the VDF.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Thanks guys!!! much much appreciated Vintagemore2000.
The interior are natural wood, outside is red, it's a five pieces 12 13 16 22. He changed the tom holder with a Tama, but It's easy to find a original double, then he has the floor tom legs but he is using it suspended on a hardware.

Jaghog, as soon as I go in Italy I will post some of my Hollywood.
Then if I take the Ludwig in the mean time I will post some picts.

Thank you very much for everything.

Ok great you have the good Rocker shell not the rocker II shells, So the drums have the large classic lugs on them also correct? get the floor tom legs and get rid of them being suspended toms.

But don't sell the meazzi for it! Also personally I wouldn't get a rocker kit, I'd wait for a super classic or big beat etc. Not that the rocker is bad though...

I don't know the difference in how the lugs looks to be honest, are ludwig branded that's all what I saw about.
I will make a think about though. I'm not Bonham so to have fun is enough and always better than those modern China **** set!

Buddyludwig: don't worry dude the Meazzi will ever be with me, I will never sell it for anything I love it. His general conditions are not perfect, still have some aesthetics problems after my little restoration, because I tried to save the most of the original parts ..but the sound is great!! And I love that "old" look...but thanks for your advise!!

At Ludwig at that time the badges were dumped into a supply bin and then randomly pulled out to be applied. Having serial numbers that are sequential or even particularly close on a set is much more rare than the sort of spread you're seeing.

Oh thanks for sharing this info mate. That's quite interesting to understand, always thought they were more careful or precise on this matter, don't know why really, probably is more about my fantasies ahah!!
