Yamaha COW Concert Tom kit "Octaplus" Config

Greetings,

These are not mine nor are they affiliated with me in any way, but I thought that might strike someone's fancy.

They are in Louisville, KY. Looks like some older A's and a 1123-1 Hi...

Re: Wet sanding black diamond pearl wrap

I wet sanded a Silver Glitter MIJ kit a while back with great results. I used a 3M Headlight Restorer kit. It came with the sandpaper, pads and the "sandpaper holder" that you put in a drill. I...

Re: Whitehall Kick Leg

Hi JR,

Is the diameter 3/8"/9.5 mm? I imagine it is. Although it won't be curved, you can go to the hardware store and get some 3/8" solid steel rod material and cut it to the length you need. ...

Re: MIJ Rail and Cymbal Mount

Hi JR,

The hole spacing on that cymbal bracket should be 1 7/8". A Ludwig P1216D Bracket will fit that perfectly. A Gibraltar Cymbal L-Arm will work well, as it's 3/8"/9.5mm in diameter.

As...

Re: Replacement gull-wing spurs for '68 Ludwig

I hope these work out for you.

Another thing you can do to gain more length if you need it is this simple solution, although it would not be "Authentic" or "original", it still works, as I have...

Re: Pearl Tom

Looks two extra small holes and one large hole.

It appears that someone used the existing bottom hole to put a (crookedly drilled) Pearl style bracket on there.

Re: Some old non-descript Ludwigs

Those look like "Standard" lugs, yes?

Also, based on the little bit of the inside of the bass drum shell I can see, it looks like there is no "Granitone" interiors and might be maple?

These...

Re: Re-wrap Seams (Use glue or tape?)

I use double sided carpet tape and it works well.

Re: Replacement gull-wing spurs for '68 Ludwig

Drum Factory Direct sells 9.5 mm (3/8") gull wing replacements. Should be a perfect fit.

Re: Sun Protection

That's what I was thinking of doing too Mark, some kind of window tint.

Did you purchase/install the products yourself or did you have him come install them? Is this something that consumers can...

Rogers Shell Mounted Cymbal L-arm and "Knobby" Mount

Greetings,

Looking for the L-arm style cymbal arm (not the straight or Swivo-Type hex arms) and the "knobby" mount, which I believe is also the same mount that was used for the hex floor tom legs....

Re: Rogers Collet Thread Size?

I just checked and Al Drew's Music only has a Facebook Page, not a website.

He is selling the collet noses on ebay under user "aldrewmusic" for $59 each.

I might try calling the store on Monday...

Re: Rogers Collet Thread Size?

Thanks for all the replies!

I hadn't made the taper connection. It makes sense! I'll try Al Drew.

Much like Yamaha Tom Arms. Do you ever wonder why a Yamaha tom arm is tapered at the very...

Rogers Collet Thread Size?

Greetings,

Anyone know what the thread size is? I thought it would be 3/4" Fine Thread (3/4" x 16 TPI), but a 3/4"-16 nut goes on the collet "finger" smooth for about a half turn then completely...

I have a couple. I believe mine are Nickel-Silver.

They are light and have good airy sound to them.

Re: Cleaning Vintage Zildjian

I say leave it. It has good mojo and good stories to tell.

When I acquire a used cymbal, I clean it with Windex and paper towels. This gets off all the surface dirt and grime, but doesn't mess...

Re: How one tiny screw can ruin your whole day.

Sorry to hear about that. I feel your frustration!

A brand new Ludwig P32 Butt is only $6. That's the route I would go. I know it won't be original, but what's the point of having it be...

Re: Rogers wood snare shell

Thanks for the offer Sir Mark!

I do prefer wood shells for jazz. My wrap is Blue Sparkle (not glitter). The entire kit is a re-wrap, so I'm okay with re-wrapping it. I know it would be...

Re: Rogers Collett Mounts

Thanks for the replies!

Just to clarify terminology, is the "nose" the T-handle that actually rotates and can come off, or is the "nose" the threaded "tube" that is directly attached to the plate...
