Re: New Stamp Old Ks

My son owns a set of Keropes including 15 inch hats, 18 and 20 inch crash rides, and a 22 inch ride. While they are certainly nice cymbals, they don't sound similar to old K's, IMO, although the 20...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

Okay, that makes a lot more sense. It sure did not sound like any Old K that I've ever heard

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I'm glad the Bosphorus rivets worked for you. I assume they are still made of copper. I found that these small and light weight rivets sound better than others that I've tried. I'm happy they are...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

Bosphorus Cymbals USA used to sell small copper rivets as an accessory item. I'm not sure if they still do or whether they will fit. They had a pretty small diameter though. Perhaps you can contact...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

It's interesting that its been drilled for 8 rivets. While I see that a lot on old A's I don't recall seeing it very often on an old K. It reminded me that the current use of rivets is generally...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I know we're not dealing with flat circles here, but a 22 in circle is approximately 84% of the area of a 24 in circle. So, 84% of the 3500 grams would approximately equal 2940g.for a 22 in cymbal....

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

The bell seems to be very large. And isn't the $1400 price on the low side? I wonder if it Is due to a lack of interest in 24" cymbals? I also wish the image of the stamp was a little better. Hard to...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

The only reason I actually brought it up in this thread is because Drumaholic was describing the difference in sound between flatter and more bowed profiles on thin cymbals and that cymbal has both.

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I know it was not Intentional, but mentioning jazz and elevator music in the same sentence twice is kind of insulting to us life long jazz players and lovers. Maybe elevator music means something...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I've been playing for 60 years and I never keyholed a cymbal yet with no top washer, but then again I don't play hard rock.

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

There's nothing illegal or moral about using one, and these days more often than not drummers do use them. What I don't understand though is why. Can you explain what advantage you get from putting a...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

What's a top washer? I came of age in the '60s. I saw Gene Krupa live at the Louisiana pavilion at the 1964 NY World's fair on my 18th birthday. I've been playing a very long time. I was playing...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

Not a problem at all. Its a bit heavier on that side and naturally stays in that position when tilted so that the main point of contact is around 3 inches just to the right of the stamp and never...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I don't mean to hijack this thread to talk about A's but what you just wrote seems to be what I'm hearing with our new 1900g 22" Trans stamp.

As I mentioned is another thread the profile is a bit...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

Our cymbal is a bit brighter than earlier stamps, and the bell is definitely brighter, but its a really nice cymbal.

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

I believe I've found the sellers original sound file from around May 2009, a 20th birthday gift for Dan. Its an .mp3 though and I'm not sure how to attach it. I must have been able to do it sometime...

Re: New Stamp Old Ks

If you are talking about the one I bought from you, it was a 50's A. I did buy a 20" NOS new stamp for my son around 10 -12 years ago on eBay. I think I may have posted the sound file from the seller...

Are you talking to jda or me? My son and I have two 20" new stamps, actually newer new stamps, if you are still using that designation. But, I don't recall that you've ever heard either of them. One...
