Re: Rogers WMP Sighting

Interesting that you mention that, Dan...I too have been stymied in trying to find a truely-live performance of the DC5. Despite the enormous talent of lead singer/keyboardist Mike Smith, I've...

Re: Rogers WMP Sighting

I'd be interested in knowing "the story" behind that video. Certainly not their most professional performance.

Drummer Joe Butler must've been using a backline kit - He played a "black cortex"...

Re: Chicago Drum Show 2021

Well K.O. (and vyacheslav),

I've got a family commitment in the NW suburbs the week of the Drum Show, and I've got a non-refundable airline ticket from L.A.

If the drum show happens and if...

Re: Blast From The Past: Contemporary Drummer 4-1-1981

Reverb has a 1966 Ludwig "Downbeat" kit listed, in Black Diamond Pearl, with the following note:

Bass Drum, Floor Tom, Mounted Tom-- these 3 interior surfaces were refinished to original spec...

Re: Ludwig "UFO" black molded snare case question

As Leedybdp suggested, I've found that the "1355 Micromatic School (snare) Stand" is two inches shorter than the common flat-based "1363" Snare Stand. (The upper tube is 13" long, vice 15" for the...

Re: Blast From The Past: Contemporary Drummer 4-1-1981

Yeah, the author's name is Desi Krater (desecrate'r).

Duct tape on the heads, spray paint on exteriors, interiors painted black, no bottom heads on the toms (with the inevitable lost hoops and...

Re: Ludwig "UFO" black molded snare case question

Thanks, I've got one of those "student model" stands that I have a timbale on. It's at my band's practice room in the next town. I'll check it out this coming week at rehearsal.

Ludwig "UFO" black molded snare case question

Say guys,

Pardon my stupidity, but I've got a question. I bought a black plastic molded "UFO" drum case on ebay. This is the one with the plastic hinge and buckles, not the more common metal...

Re: Maybe legit... but may not

The Certified Check won't clear...guaranteed. Our local CL organization has warned of this scam.

Your bank will accept it for deposit, but some time after that, you'll find out that it was a...

Re: BS&T, Colomby and Rogers

For what it's worth (not much), here is a poor photo of Bobby's drum kit, taken with my cheap Instamatic camera. Dec 5, 1969 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Re: Request info on White Marine Pearl yellowing

Thanks guys, for those responses. Understood and appreciated. I will brighten up my practice room (to try to stop the mildew issue), warm it up a bit...and use a foil "survival blanket" to cover...

Request info on White Marine Pearl yellowing

Hi guys,

I've got a 1968 WMP Ludwig kit that is "less yellow" than average...and my goal is to keep it that way. The kit never leaves my practice room and I keep the shades drawn so that no...

Re: Never heard or Seen a Ludwig Model 110 from 1971

Well, at least the buyer didn't waste too much money. The obvious issue for me was the sticker itself. The inside of that drum was in really clean condition, but the sticker was damaged and torn,...

Re: Ludwig Double Tom Post Assembly

Yeah, I think 'Leedybdp' hit the nail on the head. I've had 4 Ludwig double-tom kits - from 1958 to 1976. All standard size toms and they all had the shorter tube. The exact length of the tubes...

Re: 60's Rogers Floor Tom s/n label - markings?

Thanks....I neglected to mention that my Navy friend Jim Kendig grew up in Covington (on the Kentucky side). Ronald Kendig, the guy who signed the drum, was very likely an Uncle or something.

Re: 60's Rogers Floor Tom s/n label - markings?

Say Josh, you mentioned Covington in your discussion of Cleveland and Dayton drums.

Pardon my ignorance, but did Covington play any role in the production of Rogers drums?

The reason I ask, is...

Re: Different Mufflers, is this right?

And...before anyone asks....in that photo I attached (lifted off ebay), one of the nuts has gotten "stuck" on the end of the "baseball bat," giving it a very strange look.

Lotsa parts! A bit...

Re: Different Mufflers, is this right?

Yeah, 'baseball bat' mufflers look cool, but a few too many parts! They must've been relatively expensive, for what they were...just a muffler.

Re: Different Mufflers, is this right?

Yes, the early machined tone controls are 3/4" diameter. I just measured a few snares from the early 1960s, plus the 3 toms and snare on my 1966 kit. They're all the same.

According to pages...

Re: Ludwig Question What To Do?

Thanks for that info, and the quick reply...and oops - I confused Mod Orange with Citrus Mod. Those type finishes were very interesting, but too "far out" for this traditionalist.
