Re: Vintage 1966 Blue Oyster Pearl 16" Floor Tom

Side story - I once bought a vintage 16" sky blue pearl Ludwig floor tom to supposedly "match" my SBP Club Dates. When I got it and put it next to the the others it stuck out so bad I sold it...

Re: Needs more cowbell!

I wanted to do a More Cowbell compilation LP for years.

Don't forget "Fool if You Think It's Over" by Chris Rea. Odd that was his only US hit but apparently he's pretty famous in England.

Re: Asba Referendum 1977 Cork Wrap

Where were these made? Never heard of them. Hmmm cork - a wrap that even Slingerland didn't dream up. And they had some odd ones in the 70s..

Re: KENT drums

I had an old orange Kent snare that I wish I would've kept. The sound was very average at best but I loved their tin foil badges!

Re: New Citrus Mod Already in Clearance

I would argue that the market for the citrus mod wrap would be quite limited. The psychedelic look has limited appeal. I'd love one though.

Re: Status of Drum Kit(s) of Charlie Watts

Interesting video. I had no idea. I often have dreams about stumbling into an abandoned garage only to find vintage Ludwig drum kits..

Status of Drum Kit(s) of Charlie Watts

I realize it may be too early to know this but anyone have an idea of what may become of Mr. Watts' kits? Did he basically play just the natural finish Gretsch kit live? I know nothing of his...

Re: RIP Charlie Watts

The Stones wouldn't still be around without Charlie. He was the yin to the rest of the band's yang. That's for certain.

Re: Ludwig Combo Student Snare 1980s ?

Thanks. Any idea on the value? Not that I care much, just curious. Thanks again!

I love the catalog description - "tough shell" .. ha, they are being rather coy I'd say :)

Ludwig Combo Student Snare 1980s ?

I thought I'd start a new discussion. But this is what I picked up at an antique store last week for $55. I knew it wasn't a student snare akin to the legendary Acrolites but I'd never seen a Combo...

Re: Ludwig - Combo Snare Plastic Lugs 3qty

LOL I wonder if it was indeed endorsed by The Beatles. Everyone and their uncles were exploiting the Beatles to make a buck back in the day. I highly doubt the fab four had the time in the height of...

Re: Ludwig - Combo Snare Plastic Lugs 3qty

Reviving this discussion. I purchased an almost identical snare kit this weekend, with ludwig plastic carrying case, sticks, etc.

Any idea on the value of this snare? Seems like the year is 1980...

Re: Identifying Ludwig Standard ply woods

True and I agree. But it's still fun to know what the wood makeup was back then. Today's drum makers are all about the wood. Wood first and sound second it seems ...

Who's to say you can't set up your kit on a street corner and just playing for fun to a recorded music? Put out a tip jar? Hang in there.

Re: Serious Hearing Loss

Playing is like breathing. Never quit. It's good for your health.

I'm a big fan of quality natural supplements and gingko biloba has been a good one for hearing loss. Give it a try. You get what...

Re: For Sale: Ludwig Acrolite w' Imperial Lugs

As a side note to Mike - there was a time a few years back where you were gracing us here regularly with nicely fixed up Acros and other Ludwig snares for sale. I'm guessing the well has dried up a...

Re: My Newest Slingerland Acquisition!

That's sweet. Wrap looks really close to my Ludwig Club Dates of the same era. Wonder if the same company made the wrap??

Re: Time For Some Fun

I'll go with Ed Shaughnessey (spelling?) .... and his white Ludwig kit. Just loved that Johnny Carson era and I think he held his own with the head to heads he'd do with Buddy Rich. Has anyone ever...

Re: The 14x14 Remains Highly Sought

My 14" 1963 Ludwig Club Date floor tom is worth more than the rest of the set. Odd thing is I found a 16" floor tom in the supposed same wrap (sky blue pearl) but when I got it it didn't match up...
