Re: Radio King opinion needed

It’s possible the drums with different lugs were repaired at some point due to the older style lugs cracking. If the wrap is original, which it could be, I would be surprised. Still, if he’s asking...

Re: Downbeat vs clubdate

I did a side by side comparison a few years ago. Same heads and tuning, both Tom’s on the rail mount. Clubdates are much more open sounding.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion??? Less...

Re: Ludwig Club Date

I would agree with Mike, without that floor tom the price is a bit rich.

Re: Different camps of drum fanciers

While I have my favorites, like Ludwig, Rogers and Camco, I have just about every US brand in my collection. So as BEC said, I am a Ludwiggist as well. Mainly because that is the brand I know the...

1969 Zickos 5X14 “prototype”

Here is something I found rather interesting; the Drums Unlimited sticker on it dated it to around 1969. Most likely a Zickos prototype or early build as it sports Camco lugs, Dynasonic strainer and...

Re: Ludwig 12,14,20

This same circumstance happened to me. Someone told him what their worth after he committed to sell them to you. That person was not a buyer, merely some idiot giving him a false sense. Now, he has...

Re: Ludwig 5x14 Pink Oyster Pearl

I think we all know how difficult it is to post large pictures on this site. Even smartphones today take pics bigger than 2k in file size. This is truly a very rare snare drum. I happen to own one in...

Re: Is Anyone Still Using This Forum?

I agree with John, cannot post a pic any larger than an old flip phone picture. FB Marketplace and FB forums seem to be where the market moved to. There are good deals out there too! One must be...

Re: New 20 inch BD heads won't fit on Gretsch BD?

Had a similar issue recently with an early 50’s RK 16” FT. Bought the Remo Classics, and even though they were still tight, I got them on and the drum tuned.

Re: Best way to clean up Ludwig Resocoat (aka white painted interiors)?

If the finish is just dirty, soap and water. Make sure you don’t wipe away the date stamp(s).

Re: idrum4fun

I moved last year, and to call it a daunting task after 21 years in the same house, is an understatement! I was fortunate in that one of the companies at my new job is a storage unit business. I was...

Re: Wet sanding to remove paint from WMP

No, it only works well on covered shells.
About 5 years ago, a friend had an early 50’s Gretsch Name Band kit with a matching 6.5” snare! Although the FT was a late 50’s Slingerland in Red Sparkle,...

Re: Bop/Jazz Kits

I was asked to fill in for a band practice recently due to the drummer being out sick. Knowing it was a small space, I took my Jazzette. They sounded great and didn’t take a lot of space.
This past...

Where are all the 602 crashes?

I have a beautiful set of pre serial Paiste 602 hi hats, and a nice medium ride. I have been hunting a 16 or 17 crash forever! Where are they all?

Re: Why Play Vintage?

My modern DW Collector’s Exotics are great drums. They sound and look good, they always bring compliments on both when I play them out, and they’re built very well!
My vintage kits have a sound all...

I moved last year, closer to work. Was traveling an hour each way and the 100 hours/week in the summer was grueling with that drive on top of that!
I rented a climate controlled storage unit for a...

So are you blaming the dealers who export kits by the hundreds? I know those guys! I run into them at the shows and they tell me I’m asking too much for my stuff. Come Monday, they’re packing up 5...

Re: Down beats

They’re out there, just at the $2000+ price point! I got lucky finding the Burgundy Sparkle set I stumbled upon. They sound fantastic! Perhaps that is why they aren’t coming up as often?

Re: Removing paint without damaging wrap?

Wet sanding works well but is very time consuming. Working about a 6”x6” area at a time, 400 grit until you see wrap, then 600 until the paint is mostly gone. 1000 and up to 2000, then finish off...

Re: Dented Rogers Shell

Yes, as long as there are no tears in the metal, it is repairable. I have done several on a jig I have made. PM me for details if you are interested, I can repair it for you if you’d like.
I set it...
