Re: Whitehall Drums

I had a Whitehall 20, 12, 14 and snare about 20 years ago. It was something close to a blue onyx and it was a well built set. It might have been about as good a set of MIJ that was ever made. All...

Re: Rogers Hoops

Thanks Mark. It is surprising to learn that only a 1/8" separates the two US versions.

Re: Vintage Rogers Snare Drum

I was thinking LeedyBDP might have a go at it given that he too had that BDP Rogers set in the same time period.

I'd guess that drum to have a value of about $400 to the right person, but it will...

Rogers Hoops

Does anyone know the height dimensions of Rogers tall boy hoops and those that immediately followed the tall boy era.

Also, how do they compare to British Rogers hoops?

Re: Serious Hearing Loss

Can you repeat that?

My hearing has deteriorated in a strange fashion. I can hear music in a quiet restaurant when nobody else can detect it. But if I'm in a crowd, that's another story. Recently...

Re: MIJ Drums

No idea. You'll have to make contact. Probably $100. Some of these guys have pretty good deals with UPS or FedEx due to volume of items being shipped.

Re: MIJ Drums

I find Chris is usually quite open to offers. But go to his website straight away because the prices are a little lower.

Re: Leedy Badges

That is the set, and is also very high on my list of selling regrets. I was in a moving from north to south situation, so it had to go. I had even gotten the matching snare from a guy in England. I...

Re: Rogers Question

A few things to note, having looked at the CL advert:

1. The tom holder is not likely to have appeared on a Cleveland era drum set. It would have been the earlier model. Could have been changed...

You have to hand it to them. They got it right immediately.

Re: Leedy Badges

Another mystery solved. Makes me wonder if the kit I had included the lugs with bosses. It was built pretty late in the SlingerLeedy era with the milk chocolate interior paint and badges on all...

Re: Leedy Badges

While I have your expertise Slingerfan, am I correct in thinking that none of the Leedy lugs used during the SlingerLeedy era have posts that set into the shell? It seems a number of the drums have...

Re: Leedy Badges

OK, that explains what I've been seeing. I had thought all the SlingerLeedys had badges, but I'm seeing and learning differently.

Thanks

Leedy Badges

For Leedy drums manufactured during the Slingerland ownership (56-65 or thereabouts), when did the toms have vents and badges? Was this something that began at a certain time period or did they used...

Direction of Wrap Application - Leedy Drums

I'm used to seeing Rogers drums more than others. I do have a bit of experience with other manufacturers from the 60's, but at the moment maybe not enough. For the most part, I believe the drums I...

Re: Is this normal?

Interesting topic and photos. Having mostly had Rogers drums, that is one issue I haven't run across (though Rogers had their issues too).

Re: Ludwig Bayonet Mount Question

Thanks for that. I wasn't aware of these as an aftermarket arrangement. I love the algorithm leading to, "Want your drum to sound awesome? - no, go buy something else". Laughing H

Re: Slingerland tom air vent MIA

Good to have that cleared up because I had understood that the natural shells were the same overall diameter and the finished dimension of the wrapped drums. I would have expected that not to be the...

Re: Slingerland tom air vent MIA

With the P versus M drums, were the "maple" drums set up to have the same overall outside diameter as a drum with pearl wrap?
