Re: Big R

In 1974 I bought a swivo set used and had it for 35 years. I never could warm up to the memoriloc hardware. It always looked to me like a mad-as-a-hatter plumber got ahold of the drums and memoriloc...

Re: Blast From The Past: Contemporary Drummer 4-1-1981

I found a Gretsch RB progressive jazz set in a pawn shop. When the owner brought out the drums, the toms were without the bottom hoops. Yikes! I was disappointed. Then he brought out an old battered...

Re: Maybe legit... but may not

I played along with one of these scams and received a check with correct account information from a company in the mid-west. Called the company, checked with the book keeper who told me it wasn't...

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

Well boys and girls, the finish work was superb, kudos to Jack Lawton. The color is slightly darker, but I assume my original set faded a bit. All in all, the colors are close enough that I won't be...

Re: 1959 Gretsch Gold Sparkle

I've got a Progressive Jazz set (20/12/14) with a matching "Name Band" snare (4157) rather than the "Progressive Jazz" snare (4175) that is shown with the Progressive Jazz set in the 1966 catalogue....

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

That is a perfect match! and definitely lighter than the Gretsch. I am impressed and it gives me hope that mine will look equally as good when set up along with my Gretschs. I'll have enough to do...

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

I misspoke, Drum Supply. They told me Delmar needed a minimum order to do a run of the burgundy sparkle and it took five months. Communication wasn't easy, but I was able to speak with Andy twice to...

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

I’m excitedto see what it looks like. I ordered through Drum Maker(Andy) in Nashville, but it is a Delmar product. One can order both Ludwig and Gretsch burgundy sparkle on their website and there...

Re: Gretsch RB pawn shop find

Well here is an update I just needed to share. The set was dated to '65 and '66, a couple of tags from each year. I was once going to sell this set and use the profits to buy one of the new Rogers...

Re: memories of a drummer - Bilboard magazine 1923: Ludwig, Leedy, Evans, Wilson

The Leedy Utility would be about $412.00 in today's dollars. Not a bad deal.
