Re: Speed King bearings

I've had at least one Speed King somewhere along the line and think that I too did not like the position of the beater at rest. It was fast. That much I recall. I currently have one Swivo pedal and I...

Market Contraction? What Say You All?

I think we are beginning to see the effects of the current state of economic distress on our vintage drums. It's either that or the overall vintage drum market is fading by itself without...

Re: Rogers 9/72

Nice kit and hard to find color. Would like to see a close-up of the way in which you adapted the new tom arm to the vintage mounts.

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

Totally sweet kit jdz. I have a blue sparkle that's in the Swingtime configuration with a PowerTone and I was fortunate enough to find a Top-Hat set early this year for fairly short $$, but that one...

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

The tom set on the snare stand seems to be the current approach in all the new sets. Many drummers, if not most, view that as leaving the tom in the best position to resonant and avoid choking....

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

In a post a while back, I expressed surprise at the choice Rogers made to make a tri-onyx set before making any set in singular colors of that type. At the time I wasn't aware that it was intended...

Re: 1970ís Ludwig Super Sensitive Black Beauty

Nice drum. Not sure I've seen the shallow version before. I have seen the deeper 6.5 model.

Re: Vintage 1963 Blue Oyster Pearl 13" Tom

Nice drum. Breaking up is hard to do, but it does appear this one is not as true blue as the first one in view.

Re: Vintage 1966 Blue Oyster Pearl 16" Floor Tom

Nice drum and looks to be one of the few that remains true blue.

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

The reason I asked is the hanging one looks larger than an 8x12, but that was the more common arrangement. Just curious if it had been a 13.

Re: who made these Bollero drums ?

I'm thinking Kenwood should chime in here given his extension array of MIJ.

Re: who made these Bollero drums ?

Floor tom has 7 lugs to match the number of letters in the brand name Bollero. Since Bollero (Spanish) means Baker, they were expecting the drummer to be hot or, better said, cookin' with that drum...

Re: This is the Display Your Rogers Drums Thread

Ditto on both counts.

Nice looking set. Leaving the inlay worked nicely too.

And an unusual way of positioning the tom arm, though that is the way the early double tom mounts are arranged...

Re: Needs more cowbell!

I always appreciate watching musicians who are able to make up for aspects of original recordings that are tricky to replicate live. Glad you gave it a whirl, especially George's harmonies! Keep me...
